ENEMIES OF BOOKSby Blades, WilliamFirst Edition
Book desription: London: Trubner & Co., 1880. First Edition. Full Leather. Fine/No Jacket. The book interior is pristine except for some darkening and some fox spots on the title page, which was, we believe, the original paper wrap. Binding is tight and exterior has only light wear at the tops and bottoms of spine hinges. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Beautiful custom leather binding by Lorenz Schwartz for the Zahn Bindery of Memphis on this book collector's classic. Loren Schwartz is best known for later bindings for the Roycrofter's group. Bound in full blue leather with doublure and silk endpapers with extensive gold hand-tooling including a large art deco representation of a book worm on the front and back. This is a very desirable title for collectors done proud by a skilled and artistic binding. Truly one-of-a-kind.
