Lower corners gently bumped, rounded inwards. Bumped at head & heel of spine. Gilt letting worn, entirely legible. Uneven faded splotches on front, sprine and rear covers. Lengthy inscription from author on ffep: "June 24th, 1915, Detroit, Michigan, Carl Pfarr (sic--name hard to decipher) , My deat Brother Carl, I earnestly desire that you should have an original copy of What is Free-Masonry? I did not receive the work until I was in this city, when I discoered blank pages which I did not want. There will be another edition with Index & no blank pages & you will have a copy as well as John & Bro. Urtocum (sic--name hard to decipher). Yours affectionately, the author, N F de Clifford, M. D." This edition does not have the index and does have the blank page at the end. Textblock is clean, with solid squared binding. Mellow interior pp as expected.
