Evidently the collected edition, having originally been issued in parts, with the dates taken from the preface in each volume; this set comes from the working library of the Philadelphia architecture firm Rankin & Kellogg, with their bookplate in each volume but not other evident ownership marks. Occasional light browning in the gutter of a couple of plates; some dust-soiling to one plate; a nearly fine copy.. 2 vols, 4to, contemporary half buckram and green cloth sides, gilt lettering, [iv], 40 pages + decorative extra title page and 80 plates; [2], iv, [2], 54 pages + decorative extra title and 80 (on 79) plates (plate "15-16" on one double leaf). An attractive and extensive look at timbered houses, mansions, hospitals, etc., from the late 13th through the early 17th century; the plates includes views, plans and details. See the reviews in the February, 1861 edition of The Civil Engineer and Architect's Journal, which notes favorably the progress and success of the first 14 numbers of Dollman's work.
