The front cover is slightly loose; otherwise, the binding is tight throughout, and the pages are clean.The last 3 pages in this volume have advertisements of other Moodie books, (Roughing it in the Bush, Life in the Clearings vs. the Bush), and other ads as well., Book has Moodie signed dedication: To Ellen Glass Ford from her friend Susanna Moodie Belleville, January 2, 1856 (A second ownersÕ name follows), We have done a check on the name Ellen Glass Ford in the Belleville section of the 1860 Hastings County Directory; the Index to Belleville Newspapers, 1856-1879 (lots of references to the surnames Ford and Glass, but no Ellen); and the index to obituaries in 19th century Belleville newspapers (but there are lots of gaps in the newspapers on microfilm).
