Book summary

A colorful cast of characters take part in a promotion dreamed up by New Orleans hairdresser Marcel Barrineau. It's a "Bad Hair Day," and beautician Claire Claiborne, owner of the Eclaire salon, is participating. Also taking part are Duchess Crowe, owner of a nightclub, and her newest rock star Tom Toy. The event is being filmed for television. When Duchess expires while under a hair dryer, it turns out she's been poisoned. But by whom, and why? The answers involve a complicated web of drug transactions, blackmail, and other seamy occupations.
