Mrs. Sarah Trimmer (1741-1810) was a noted British children's literature author and philanthropist; this was her first book, based on the lessons she gave to her own children. It begins with a note to the Right Honorable Lady Charlotte Finch and a Preface, and is divided into two parts. The text follows a mother and her two children, Charlotte and Henry, on a series of nature walks in which the mother describes the natural world as the wonders of God's creation.
