Betjeman' s life from his birth in 1906 to his marriage in 1933. He was a solitary child and an unconventional pupil at the Dragon School and Marlborough Collage. His holidays in Cornwall, the early passion for church architecture and his first attempt at verse-making. He Left Magdalen without a degree, was sacked as a private secretary to an Irish nobleman. He continued briefly and outrageously as a prep-schoolmaster, then found work closer to his heart on The Architectural Review. Amongst other it includes, Evelyn Waugh, Nancy Mitford, Hugh Gaitskell, Kenneth Clark and Anthony Blunt. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
