Preface plus nine short stories, somewhat anticipating the 'fin-de-siecle' style of the 1890s. Bleiler harshly dismisses the collection as 'weak' but the title story is an excellent example of the decadent and moody gothic style. Spine ends lightly frayed, corners nicked, attractive bookplate to front pastedown, a good to very good copy of a handsome book.
