London: Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown and Green, 1831. First edition. 1/4 cloth. Very Good. Green cloth boards, quarter bound leather (spine, corners) Banded spine, title labels. This is rare 1831 first edition. The author, part of Wellington's army participated in the Napoleonic Wars at Quatre Bras, Waterloo etc. This copy, in remarkably good condition with tight binding and no foxing (there is a small discoluring to the inside gutters of some of the text pages (see photo) but it is well away from the text and may have been caused by the original adhesive fixing. There is also minor rubbing to leather quarters and spine.Text is clean and undamaged and the copy is a most desirable and well above average item of this military classic. Pp 411. Size 14 x 22cms.
