Book summary

A young girl named Lilly loves to listen to her grandmother's stories about watching the whales swimming, leaping, and singing in the ocean. Her grandmother tells her that if a person leaves a gift for the whales on the ocean's shore, and if the whales approve of the gift, they will reward you. Lilly's Great-Uncle Frederick says this can't be true, but despite Great-Uncle Frederick's doubts, Lilly leaves a yellow flower on the beach for the whales. Will the whales approve of Lilly's gift?
