Included with this is a 4 pp. letter from the author Kingsford to John Reade (1837-1919), a journalist who became literary editor of the Montreal Gazette in 1870. Reade also published a book on poetry and contributed to many literary publications. The letter dated at Ottawa 1896, and discusses among other things a recently published book "Les Patriots
