The Severn Valley Steam Railway runs from Kidderminster in Worcestershire to Bridgnorth in Shropshire, with Arley being one of the rail stations along the way. Following the author's first visit to Arley in 1971, he with a small group of volunteers worked in restoring the derelict station, and for eight years he held the honorary post of station master at Arley.
