Book desription: N.Y., , 1939. 1st edition. Pict. wrprs. . Average light wear. Sticker on front wrpr,. w/ short typed descrip. Gd. - VG. 64pp. Soviet propaganda booklet publ. by "Soviet Russia,Today ", a propagnda publ. journal for the Soviets, in Dec. 1939 after beginning of Russia's invasion of Finland telling Stalinist lies excusing the invasion of Finland & excusing her Non-Aggression Pact w/ Germany. After signing Non-Aggression Pact w/ Germany, Russia engaged in Finnish War (also known as Winter War) by invading Finland. War lasted November 1939-March 1940. Soviets suffered heavy losses but eventually won, occupying part of Finland. Their unexpected heavy losses against the Finns is said to have encouraged Hitler to later doubt the Soviet military strength & to invade Russia & break the Russian-Nazi treaty. Russia used as an excuse for its invasion the use of Finnish territory years before to invade Soviet Union after Russian Revolution & the supposed renewed threat of an invasion to destroy the Socialist republic. This pamphlet traces & defends Soviet diplomatic history w/ Finland since World War I, its recent diplomatic & military moves against Finland, blames the Finns & excuses the invasion as preventing English & French threat to Russia using Finnish territory, discusses the Soviet-German Non-Aggression Pact as supposedly upsetting Intervention Plans of Great Britain & France, discusses Soviet relations w/ Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, all of which it would conquer. Unusual item on a forgotton war at beginning of World War II by then-ally of the Nazis. Dbl. pg. map. Sold w/ 8pp. of photocopied material on the Finnish War.
