A Near Fine copy of Anthony Trollope's second novel, in three Volumes, bound in 3/4 leather with marbled boards, t.e.g. The pastedowns and the rectos of the free endpapers are marbled as well, prior owner's elegant bookplate to each pastedown. The leather has some age wear at the spine edges and the leaves have age toning and minor brittleness. A tale of Irish life, published in England by a virtually unknown author, with only 375 copies printed, the book failed commercially. Copies in the original cloth are almost never seen and Sadleir advised that collectors not be too fastidious over this title as they may never see more than one copy. In fact, the book is so uncommon that Sadleir (who searched diligently for Trollope's books) could not locate any regular sale record among rare and used book dealers. A very nice copy of an extremely difficult book to find in any condition at all. An opportunity for the Trollope collector to distinguish his or her collection.
