Engraved titlepage and plates by Raphael Sadeler. 11 of 12 plates - the plate illustrating 'Signo II' on pp. 7-8 is missing. Manuscript notes on front and rear free endpaper. 'Dr Wright, Glasgow 1844' inscribed in front free endpaper Delightful little book in Latin in which Jeremias Drexler (a German Jesuit preacher, 1581-1638) explains a Judaeo-Christian zodiac (not the usual astrological twelve signs of the zodiac) and its use in predestination. The book was translated into English, published 1634 (STC 7234.5). The Copac record for this book states: 'Two editions exist with the same t.p. and date but with the text set differently. In this edition, the dedication on A2 begins: "Ill.mo Principi ac Domino, D–o Ioanni". The 'approbatio' on the final leaf is dated 1631. Cornelius ab Egmond was a pseudonym used by the printers Blaeu ...'
