Stevenson (1850-94), Scottish novelist, poet, essayist and travel writer. A comprehensive collection of his novels, stories, essays, travel sketches, poems and letters. Also includes a biography of Stevenson by Graham Balfour. Most volumes with a preface by his wife, Fanny Stevenson. A few volumes illustrated by maps, including fold-outs. 12mo volumes, approx. 7 by 4.5 inches. Handsome bindings of brown Morocco half-leather (spine and corners) over tan linen cloth. Marbled endpapers. Gilt top page edge. Gilt ruling, lettering and decoration. Raised spine bands with thistle floral devices in the compartments. Volumes average about 350 pages. VG overall with some rubbing and wear to extremities and spine ends. One volume chipped at head of spine (about one-quarter inch.) Some page edges chipped from careless opening. Nautical bookplate to each front pastedown of noted Arctic oceanographer David C. Nutt. All bindings secure with sound hinges and joints. Text pages clean and unmarked. In all, a well-preserved and decorative set. Rarely found with all 31 volumes present. List of volume titles available on request..
