On A Huge Hillby Beresford, J.DFirst edn in dw
Book Description
Original black cloth with gilt spine titles; 284pp no ads, all edges trimmed. The pictorial dw depicts an impressionistic view of a northern town against a large hill and is a little chipped and ragged at the edges but is otherwise unrestored and original. The book itself is VG with light spine end rubbing and a slightly cocked spine. A very rare title; I have never seen any other copy listed anywhere in circa 10 years. Quite possibly the book was printed in tiny numbers or much of the original printing was lost during WW2 (several warehouses were razed to the ground during the Blitz, hence the loss of several publishers' archives and other items). Supernatural novel in which a grieving solicitor is able to recall a dying child back to life. Beresford wrote many novels with supernatural mysticism at their core including the more widely-known 'The Hampdenshire Wonder' and 'The Camberwell Miracle'. Although the former is accorded to be Beresford's key title, 'On A Huge Hill' is actually far rarer. There are no copies listed online and neither are there any reviews or print-on-demand options.
