THE RED CHIPMUNK MYSTERY by QUEEN JR., ELLERY (MONTANYE, HAROLD)
FIRST EDITION
PHILADELPHIA PA: LIPPINCOTT CO (J.B.). NERA FINE WITHOUT D.J.. PUB 1946. FIRST EDITION. HARDCOVER. Inscribed by Harold Montanye who reveals himself as the ghost author of this book in his inscription . ORANGE CLOTH COVERED BOARDS WITH TITLES AND DECORATION IN BLACK TO THE SPINE AND FRONT COVER. ASIDE FROM AN EXPECTED AMOUNT OF OCCASIONAL WEAR, A FINE COPY. This copy is inscribed by Harold Montanye thus: Rhinebeck, NY Aug. 31/48 For Karen Rose from the only real ghost who had anything to do with this book- Harold Montanye Until 1998 it was assumed that Ellery Queen Jr. was the dynamic duo of Dannay and Lee but in May of 1998, Jack Santore wrote an article in the Yellowback Library, Number 167, pp.12-13, stating definitely that this was not so. But who actually ghost wrote these nine "Djuna Mysteries" seems to be a pretty hard nut to crack with a number of possible but no definitive candidates, but this inscription seems to verify definitively the author of at least one of the titles. Apparently Montanye did a bit of writing for Argosy Weekly Magazine where I have found a couple of his writings. .

!!!Please be advised that if you use "Media Mail" there is a very good chance that your package will be opened and inspected by the Post Office. A vigorous campaign has been initiated by the PO to ferret out fraudulent use of "media mail" and, of course, the professional bookseller who follows the rules as set forth by the PO, has to suffer as a result. The integrity of our packages and possibly the condition of the purchased book, our relationships with our customers, and the privacy of the transaction are compromised when a package is knifed into. If you do not want the real possibility of the PO tampering with your purchase I would advise using "Priority" mail to avoid this wrongheaded and intrusive practice!!!
