Spirited waters; soloing south through the Inside Passage. (reprint, 2001) by Hahn, Jennifer
The Mountaineers Books, 2009. Paperback. New Book. Paperback. Hahn has been an adventurer all her life and currently guides kayaking trips in the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere. This is the memoir of her solo kayak journeys starting from Ketchikan, Alaska and ending in the San Juan Islands. The trips were made in two or three week stretches over a two year period. The narrative combines the rigors of a solo adventure, wildlife and weather encountered the people she met and observations on life, the past and the connection of human beings with the natural world. Hahn takes her journey seriously, but not herself. Her experiences make for enjoyable reading both for those who enjoy exploring the wilderness and those who prefer armchair travels.
