The narrative combines the rigors of a solo adventure, wildlife and weather encountered the people she met and observations on life, the past and the connection of human beings with the natural world. Hahn takes her journey seriously, but not herself. Her experiences make for enjoyable reading both for those who enjoy exploring the wilderness and those who prefer armchair travels.
