Railfreight in colour; for the modeller and historianby Cable, David
Book desription: Ian Allan Publishing, 2009. Paperback. New Book. Paperback. The series provides color photographs of actual British trains as a guide for model railroad enthusiasts trying to be as authentic as possible, but the images and captions might also serve as a reference for historians of railroads. This volume covers freight trains from the period from 1983 when the freight and departmental operations of British Rail became separate entities, up to and just including the privatization of the railways in 1996. During this time, says Cable, the two activities were easily distinguishable because each had its own color scheme. The photographers were mainly concerned with the engines, but the various kinds of cars are also shown well enough to copy in miniature. Distributed in the US by Casemate.
