The complete text on the title page reads--" Mystical City of God, The Miracle of His Omnipotence and the Abyss of His Grace, The Divine History and Life of The Virgin Mother of God, Our Queen and Our Lady, Most Holy Mary Expiatrix of the Fault of Eve and Mediatrix of Grace, Manifested in these later ages by that Lady to her handmaid Sister Mary of Jesus, Superioress of the convent of the Immaculate Conception of the town of Agreda, of the province of Burgos in Spain, under obedience to the regular observance of the seraphic father Saint Francis, For new enlightenment of the world, for rejoicing of the Catholic Church, and encouragement of men. Translation from the Original Authorized Spanish Edition by Fiscar Marison, Begun on the Feast of the Assumption, 1902". Full green cloth with title etc. and designs in gilt on the spine, also on spine the words "Ciudad De Dios Agreda". Frontipiece b&w plate titled "The Father and Mother, as well as the two brothers and the Sister, of Mary of Agreda entered religion about the year 1617". Preamble includes, " A Rebuke Long Overdue" and " Approbations" dating from 1757 to 1912. Condition: light to moderate soiling overall, corners bumped, spine corners, only, exhibit some fraying. Binding lightly shaken yet all pages remain firmly bound in. Text is complete and clean, some penciled page notations on the back endpapers, particularly the back paste-on page. Gilt on the spine has faded some but is still easily readable. Overall this tome is useable, readable and desirable. An important unabridged classic of Christian / Catholic mystical literature.
