Description
Oxford University Press, [1936]. Hardback Good condition. Tan decorated cloth binding. Color frontispiece plus 48 black-and-white plates. Previous owner name on first free endpaper, embossed stamp on title page, pencil notes on rear endpapers and 'discard' stamp, though no other ex-library indications. Author was the inventor of several important color film processes.
Ex-library : A former library book, generally containing library acquisition and ownership stamped markings, and other typical indications of the library's use.
frontispiece : A portrait or illustration on the page opposing the title page.
title page : A page where the title of the book, the author's name and publication information usually appear.
plates : Full page illustrations or photographs. Plates are printed separately from the text of the book, and bound in at production. I.e., they are not sewn as parts of gatherings.
endpaper : The double leaves bound into a book at the front and rear after printing. One side is glued to the inner portion of the boards (the paste-down) and the other is left loose (free endpaper).
