First Edition; First Printing
Notre Dame, Ind.: Ave Maria Press. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 1990. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Excellent condition, with minimal shelf wear. Pages clean and unmarked. ; 117; The war-torn winter of 1944-45 was one of deprivation and death for the people of the Netherlands. Thousands fled to the countryside to search for food and avoid being sent to Nazi work camps. Many whose lives were falling apart turned to a young theology student for consolation. "Their trust," relates Adrian van Kaam, "fired my thinking. It set me on a new course for life." He tried to enkindle in them a faith in a higher power, encouraging them to close their ears to the tragedy around them and "to hear inwardly the barely audible music of eternity" --a music heard through the openings of everyday life. In The Music of Eternity Father van Kaam demonstrates that faithfulness to daily events leads to a vibrant life filled with peace and joy, that fidelity to God's epiphany (manifestation) allows us to hear "the music of eternity." He holds that fidelity is the finding force of love and friendship, of spiritual life and commitment. This quite, reflective and prayerful book shows that through the awareness and exercise of fidelity we learn of God's faithfulness. Fidelity, with its rewards and struggles, is the key to a deeply spiritual life. And a basic step toward it is faithfulness to the unique call of God that sounds in our heart like the Music of Eternity. .
