Indianapolis, USA: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1903. The First Edition has for sale this L Frank Baum Wizard of Oz book, The New Wizard of Oz, which is a second edition, second state from 1903. This very rare early edition Wizard of Oz book is illustrated by W.W. Denslow, and published by The Bobb-Merrill Company, Indianapolis, USA.____The original green boards have an impressed decoration to front and back boards with a black illustration to the spine. The boards are in Good condition with wear and fraying to the spine and the front board a little loose but still firmly attached.____The endpapers to the front and back of the book has the Lion growling with the Tin Man and Scarecrow looking on. The front pastedown has a very appropriate and charming period label of a black bird talking on an old fashioned telephone with the caption above that reads: “A Little Bird Told Me That This Book Belongs To” with the name now erased. This label is a nice addition to this book.____There are 259 numbered pages with stunning illustrations throughout and with 15 out of 16 colour plates____The pages are in overall Very Good condition with a few pages having marks and small closed tears to the margins.____This is a lovely example of a truly classic book that was made into film and a play, made famous the Judy Garland Hollywood production of The Wizard of Oz in 1939 . Second Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by W.W. Denslow.
