Book summary

When two tourists show up in the Alaskan town where Bailey Lockhart works as a bush pilot, things get difficult. Bailey, an Ingalik Indian and a pilot, discovers that they are really there to pan for gold, which is against the law. In addition, they possess information about Bailey's past that makes her distinctly uncomfortable. Written by a distant relative of Franz Kafka, this novel is an intriguing look at a woman in an unusual situation trying to deal with a crisis in her own life and the life of her town and her people.
