Description
Charles Scribner's Sons, 1927. Hard Cover. SIGNED by Ernest Hemingway -- 1st Edition 1st Printing -- VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD -- copy of Men Without Women. 8vo. [i]-[xii] + 1-[236]. Signed by the author on the Title Page. One of the first edition issue of 7,650 copies published October 14, 1927 and bound in smooth black cloth with gold paper labels. The orange top-edges are faded; the gold paper label on the front board is lightly soiled with a small chip missing from the upper right-hand corner of the label, and the gold paper spine label is soiled and worn. Light shelfwear to the bottom-edges of the boards with pronounced shelf-wear at the bottom-edges near the corners of the of the boards. Front board is slightly loose, not affecting the paste-down or ffep. The rear paste-down has been professionally mended to ameliorate a tear between the rear end-paper and the pastedown. In the original first-state tan dustwrapper with black lettering and three plain horizontal orange bands across the front panel. The blurb on the front dustwrapper flap contains two errors: there are 14 stories, not "thirteen" stories in this volume, and four of them, not "six" are previously unpublished. (Hanneman [7](a)). The wrapper is very lightly soiled and the wrapper spine is slightly darkened, and there is some minor chipping to the head and tail of the wrapper and the corners of the wrapper at the front and rear flaps. A signed, unsophisticated copy, and hence scarce. Published by: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1927 First edition. Signed.
