Book description: Collins, London, n.d. (circa 1960).. Unpaginated (approx. 44 pp.), 8vo (8 1/4" H), hard cover with pictorial front board - no dust jacket. Profusely illustrated with color and b&w drawings and diagrams. Timothy's father tells him about space, from the early myths, astronomers and sto. ries of travel to the Moon, through the development of rockets, the launching of Sputnik, satellites, and Project Mercury and on to speculation about space stations and exploration of other planets (re: Mars - "There may even be animals there, wi. t h big lungs to gulp in the thin air."). Interior - tiny scuff on rear pastedown, very light split to paper at inside gutters, very light browning to pages, previous owners names in "This belongs to..." section, otherwise clean and tight with no . ot he r ownership marks. Exterior - light to moderate edge wear, crease at front hinge, very light rubbing. G+.
