Book description: 1971. Original drawing by Vernon Witham, on matboard. This image is approximately 3.5 x 5 inches, mounted on jute-printed backboard and in a contemporary shadow frame. Dated and initialed 1971, the period when Witham was working in Eugene, Oregon. Witham is an avidly collected American artist. His over one-half century of output has been informed by the art of Mexico, the cubists, and the rhythms of 20th-Century American life in his spiritual search for balance and awareness. He has exhibited across the country and had many one-man shows, and his work hangs in significant museusm and private collections. This drawing was apparently done in ink. Having hung on a Eugene, Oregon collector's wall for many years, it appears to be slightly faded. It's an earnest little drawing with a touch of whimsy and a distant echo of Mexico, in an informed primitive style. A rare find these days. ORIGINAL ART 3788. Illus. by Vernon Clint Witham. Art.
