Paris: Chez Delloye (Editeur De La France Pittoresque), 1838. Overall very good, fine binding (Houghton of New Bond Steet, London), with likely contemporary half calf, dark green binding, all edges gilt, and ornate gilt spines with foliate scroll work and floral decoration. Minimal shelf wear, few areas scuffed, rare foxing / page browning, but overall an exceptionally attractive set. Vol. 1:viii, 312pp.; Vol. 2: viii, 320pp.; Vol. 3: viii, 320pp.; Vol. 4: viii, 319pp.; Vol. 5: viii, 368pp. All are 11 inch quartos. Over a thousand maps, plans, protraits and vignettes are present (268 in vol. 1, 239 in vol. 2, 263 in vol. 3, 263 in vol. 4, 297 in vol. 5) This is quite a nice piece of French Napoleonic military history, in an unsual binding. There is an owner's armorial plate on the front pastedowns of each volume. The online dates seem to vary a bit (with titles reading "de 1792 a 1833"), which conforms to entry 1774 in The Sandler Collection. The dates we list above do, however, conform with an online listing of the KVK catalogue, for the Bibliotheque Nationale. Hence this may be an updated set..
