Frederic Prokosch (Bryn Mawr) , 1933 . Paperback. . Small closed tear to top of spine and neat ink inscription of previous owner on ffep. Contents clean and bright. 8vo blue/green marbled Cockerell paper wrappers, stitched with blue thread with grey paper title label (and extra label tipped in at back). One of 5 copies on Kelmscott paper numbered 1/22. This is the first butterfly book printed by Prokosch. The poem 'Hearing of harvest rotting in the valleys' was originally published by Auden in the Criterion in 1933. He later changed the word 'harvest' to 'harvests'. Prokosch later published some fraudulent Butterfly books in the 1950s and 60s but dated 1930s. However, this is one of the genuine ones published at Bryn Mawr. (Bloomfield and Mendelsohn A6: Barker, No 1). This is a very scarce item. There are no known copies of this volume in private hands.
