Author was Noah Worcester, secretary of the Massachusetts Peace Society & editor & author of most of the Friend of Peace numbers. Friends of Peace & Mass. Peace Societyy among others was active in opposing the War of 1812. Worcester (1758-1837) was a Unitarian Congregational minister in Mass achusetts & New Hampshire. The Friend of Peace in this book specifically addressed arguments in favor of war, & believed on logical, philosophic, & religious grounds that war, whether offensive or defensive, was unjustified & promoted a doctrine of non-resistance. for nations & individuals.
