The buffalo wolf; predators, prey, and the politics of natureby Carbyn, Ludwig N
Book desription: Smithsonian Books, 2003. Hardbound. New Book. Hardbound. The Wood Buffalo National Park of northwestern Canada is one of the last places left in North America where wolves and bison still exist in the predator-prey relationship of pre-Columbian times. Carbyn (a research scientist emeritus for the Canadian Wildlife Service) traveled to the park and describes his observations of the interactions between the two species. He also looks at efforts by ranchers to have the government allow the killing of the buffalo because of their worries of disease infecting their herds, as well as opposing efforts by conservationists.
