Near Fine in dark blue, highly decorated boards, gilt along the top edge, untrimmed pages, with a prior owner's signature and business card on the half title page. Top and bottom of backstrip and corners show less than normal wear for the age of the book; hinges are intact and binding square and tight. The color illustration before the title page is still protected by the original tissue. Pages are whole and in very good condition. No dustjacket. Sold together with a lightly tanned but otherwise fine handwritten note signed by Van Dyke, with a small photo pasted to the card; content relates to the photo: In this picture I hardly recognize myself, but in fact I am very sincerely yours Henry van Dyke Avalon Jan. 16, 1913. .
