Volume 1: 784 pages, followed by a section of booksellers advertisements. Gilt titles are bright on cover, faded on spine. Wear at top and bottom of spine. Volume II has more wear to cover, particularly corners. Continuing pagination from previous volume, this one ends at page 1532 also followed by a section of publisher's other available works. Volume II was published in 1938 and is the 6th German language edition of this book. Split to top of front pastedown and split to webbing at dedication page. Fray and chip at top and bottom of spine. The covers of Volume II show more wear than that of volume I. Author's name and pencilled price on fep. Heavy volumes with heavy glossy pages with black and white illustrations.
