Book desription: London: George Routledge. Gilt title and coloured pictorial of Gordon highlander carrying rifle to spine, gilt title with gilt motto " nemo me impune lacessit" encircling 92 under which is "Egypt" and below is "Gordon Highlanders", coloured pictorial of two Gordon Highlanders on horseback with sabres and another running with rifle held aloft to front board, on green bevelled cloth boards. Pictorial boards and spine are very bright, clean and unmarked with just a little wear to corners and a few marks to back board. Internally dark green endpapers which are separating from each other but pages are clean and unmarked. 373 pages + publishers catalogue with 6 illustrations by Harry Payne. Not dated but The British Library has only the one edition of 1897 but with the title "'Scotland Forever' or The Adventures of Alexander McDonell" and without the gilt motto. The author is Lieutenant-Colonel John Percy Groves, Royal Guernsey Artillery (late 27th Inniskillings). It is an historical tale of Alexander Fraser McDonell and his father written in biographical form and contains the historical details of service in the 92nd Regiment and also his father's service in the 42nd and the Guernsey Regiment.
