No place, no date: Manuscript (not published), 1920. 4-3/4" x 1-3/8" piece of paper, autographed but clipped from document, with typed words "Very Sincerely Yours" and signed "Joseph W. Fifer." No date, circa 1920. Some staining due to adhesive attached to reverse. Lived 1840-1938. Served in McLean County, IL. Father of Florence Fifer Bohrer. Born in Staunton, VA October 28, 1840. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War in the 33rd Illinois Infantry Regiment, known as "Private Joe." He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington in 1868. Fifer was a lawyer, and a member of the IL state senate, 1881-83. Governor of IL 1889-93; defeated, 1892. Delegate to IL state constitutional convention, 1920. Died in Bloomington, McLean County, IL August 6, 1938.. Signed. Unique. Unbound. Very good condition. Illinois Politician, Governor, Autograph, 33rd Ilinois Infantry.
