DescriptionMelbourne: Oxford University Press. 204 pages, last 2 blank. Grey speckled textured boards with black writing on the front panel and spine. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and the extreme edges have become brown and discoloured. Shelfwear to the lower book edges along with some bumping and some dust marked to the top book edge. A small mark to the rear back panel -- a blob of red ink. Browning, foxing and dust marks to the top paper edge and browning to the other paper edges. Browning to the end paper as and to the internal pages as well. A previous owner has placed masking tape the full-length of both the front and back to hinge -- tape still in situ. The remains of tape marks [ tape that held plastic cover over the dustwrapper ] can be seen to both the front and back end papers and front and back paste downs. Handling marks are also present to the end papers. Previous owner's name and stamp to the top edge of the free front end paper. Illustrated dustwapper, showing a young girl holding a book -- artist's name in the lower lefthand corner -- Pat Terry, with black writing on the front panel and spine. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the spine. Very tiny tears to the top dustwapper edge and there is a small piece missing from the lower front dustwapper edge. The dustwapper has also become rubbed and quite grubby. The remains of tape can also be seen on the front fold over panels. Browning and foxing to the verso of the dustwapper. There is a 0.25 " tear to the lower lefthand corner of the front panel which has been repaired with tape, tape still in situ on the verso of the dustwapper. A story written in the 1940s for girls between the ages of nine and 13. In this story five girls pool their talents and become the pen and pencil girls.
