Book description: New York, Burt, (1915). Reprint edition. (NF/NF). With decorations by J. Allen St. John. The author's second published book and second Tarzan novel. The first Burt printing was actually 1916. This is an early Burt printing, ca. 1917, ascertained by the title of the l atest Burroughs book listed in the catalogue at the rear, that title being The Beasts of Tarzan. Green (almost olive) cloth, stamped in black on cover and spine. (viii), 365 pp. plus (10) pp. of publisher's ads. The dust jacket has the N. C. Wyeth front panel, and lists nine titles (including this one) on the rear panel. Zeuschner 449. This is a remarkable copy. It is clean and bright. It has truly miniscule wear at the corners and spine ends. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket that also has minute wear with a tiny closed tear on the front panel, faint rubbing on the front flap fold, and some dust-soiling of the white portions of the jacket. The front flap has a blurb for this book; the rear flap is blank. A superior copy..
