Book summary

In Equatoria, aging print reporter T. K. Farrow finds himself competing for scoops against an idealistic young schoolteacher-turned-amateur reporter, Cassandra Benoi. Although T. K. is a jaded, old-school veteran, he is nevertheless drawn to Cass, who is as intent on saving humanity as she is on reporting the news. When civil war erupts in Equatoria, T. K. must decide whether to rescue Cass or cover the best story of his career.

Media reviews

"Christopher Wren's 'Hacks' is laced with black humor and crackles with riveting, authentic dialogue. It's the best novel about foreign correspondents since Evelyn Waugh's 'Scoop'....'Hacks' gives more insight into the modern information age than a dozen global village seminars."
