In this truly fabulous voyage, in which he was beset by trouble and danger, nearly demasted, self-steering gear destroyed, and capsized, Sir Francis never lost hope or humour, and his firm determination to continue his voyage off the West Australian coast when any lesser man would have made for Fremantle is just an example of truly dauntless courage in the face of fantastic odds.
