The North America collection includes Native Indian and Eskimo (Inuit) artifacts, and Americana and Canadiana antiquities from the first English and French explorers and settlers in North America. This volume also pays tribute to the vision and dedication of two men: Charles Fothergill, who petitioned the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada for a "Lyceum of Natural History and Fine Arts in the City of York", which led to the establishment of a museum in 1851.
