Text in Swedish. Burgundy full-leather bindings with gilt lettering and decoration. Five raised bands on spines. Gilt edges. This is the premier history of the Swedish province of Halland, written and edited by members of the Lund School of historiography. Halland, a rich agricultural province on the Atlantic seaboard of southwestern Sweden, was ceded to Sweden by Denmark in the 1645 Treaty of Bromsebro. This work presents a series of scholarly articles addressing various historical, cultural, political and economic aspects of Halland's history. Volume 1 (published 1954; xiii, 883 pp.; illustrations, footnotes, name and place indexes) contains 5 contributions: "Hallands forntid" [Prehistory of Halland]; "Hallands politska historia" [Political History of Halland]; "Hallands bönder" [Agriculture of Halland]; "Hallands städer" [Towns of Halland]; and, "Hallands fästningar" [Military Fortresses of Halland].
