Dresden: Hilscher. 1828-29. 5 parts in 2 volumes. Sm. 8vo. First edition. vi, 170; 130; viii, 152; 135; 231, v. Each part with seperate t.p. Contemp. half calf with spine labels and gilding. Boards worn with some internal foxing. Ex-libris with numerous stamps and attached labels to fep's and spines. Bound in at beginning of part 5 is a letter written and signed by Falkenstein, dated 20 May, 1829 to an un-named receiver of the book. Also attached to the ffep of vol. one is a dedicatory note on a paper label. Falkenstein was the Dresden librarian at the time. Wonderful chronology of voyages of exploration from the earliest times to 1828. Australia mentioned often with the discovery being credited to Hartogh in 1616 though mention is made of de Quiros discovering Torres Straits. Robert, 1442. . 1st. Good.
