Book desription: Vienna: K. Gerold's Sohn, 1868. First volume of the zoological reports, dealing solely with mammals. 42pp + 3 coloured plates plus descriptions. 4to. Original printed wrappers with some minor wear to edges, lacking rear wrapper. Unopened. One of 6 volumes comprising the vertebrate reports. The Novara expedition was a circumnavigation of the globe by the Austrian frigatte Novara. (Commodore B. von Wullerstorf-Urbair) undertaken by the order of the imperial government, in the years 1857, 1858 and 1859, under the command of His I. and R. Highness the Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian, commander-in-Chief of the Austrian Navy. The results of this 3 year voyage were published between 1861 and 1875 by the Kaiserlich-Konigliche Hof- und Staatsdruckerei together with K. Gerold's Sohn of Vienna.. Good.
