The second of a two-part series of Dakota lessons written by the eminent American Indian linguist, Stephen R. Riggs. From his mission on the upper Mississippi in Minnesota, Riggs became the leading Siouan linguist of his day, preparing numerous religious texts in the Dakota language. Of particular note is his translation of the Minnesota constitution into Dakota in 1858.
