By the Author, [1919]. Quarto. German text, signed by the author Karl Muller. Typescript diary. Title page designed by author in a silver and gold geometric design and his signed copyright page also designed in silver and gold. 14 typed leaves(recto only), 1-198 typed leaves (rectos only) I-XXIV leaves (rectos only). The life of the battery Thiele from the first to the last day live 16 November 1916 to 30 December 1918. "Batterie Thiele" including Feld Artillerie-Regiment No. 39, Field artillerie-Regiment No. 103, Infanterie Geschutz-Batterie No. 3. Tanks, 1914-1918
by Stern, (Sir) Albert Gerald
- Used
London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1919. Quarto. xi, 297 [1], Profusely illustrated with technical drawings. He was the major figure in advocating the tank and with the help of Sir. William Tritton, The first tanks were developed. The Admiralty had some opposition to the land use of the tank concept as proposed since initially in its earlier design it was to protect the British (some blaming Winston Churchill) since there was an application in their earlier forms for the British Navy. Of course, it was their understanding of the tank that was a major factor in the outcome in favor of the Allies. Bound in ¾ black polished calf over black cloth, raised bands gilt, double red morocco spine labels and top edge gilt. A lovely copy.
