Book description: Austin, Texas: Tribe Of Two Press. Fine 1983. First Edition. Hard Cover. 8vo - 23 x 23 cm.; 47 pp. This is a special edition of this book, number 17 of 110 copies, signed by both Spencer and Howell on the first blank preliminary. It is inscribed and signed again on the half title page by the author. Accompanying the book is is a specially bound original stone lithograph called "Firewatcher" by Howell, which is signed and dated. Both volumes are in a slipcase which is in very good condition having a bit of minor soiling on it. Laid in the book is a typed sheet with a poem by Spencer called "Spirit Song". The book, lithograph and slipcase are bound in a brown cloth with gilt lettering on the cover of the book and lithograph; the slipcase has a pastedown title and illustration. Spencer, who died in 2000, was a Native American educator and founder of The LearningWay Center. "Who Speaks for Wolf" received the Thomas Jefferson Cup Award for quality writing for young people and is considered an Environmental Classic. Howell (1937-1997) was a well known Southwest painter, print-maker and gallery owner; a post-realist painter of Native Americans. Digital photos of any aspect are available upon request. .
