The charter of the original Connecticut Colony granted a strip of land aboaut 75 miles wide extendng from ocean to ocean. In 1786, Connecticut ceded the bulk of her Western lands to Congress, but reserved a sizable strip for herself in what is now Northern Ohio by the shore of Lake Erie and the 41st parallel (south of present Youngstown). Some of Connecticut has survived there in the archicteture. Moses Cleaveland and his party began to survey the land in 1796.. Stated first Edition. Hard Cover. |
