Book Description
2001. Light scuffing and handling wear to cover. Pages clean, bright, and flat. 35 pages, with color photos throughout, including a photograph of the artist. 3-page Introduction by Mike Marqusee, the artist's son. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Probably best known as the owner of Janet Marqusee Fine Arts, Janet Marqusee was also an accomplished painter and artist herself. Although she spent much of her life in and around the visual arts, she had little interest in contemporary artistic trends, and some impatience with a number of ephemeral artistic fashions. She was driven back to her easel again and again by a deep need to draw and paint, a need to render appearances, a need to respond to the visual world. Her singularity lies not in her subject matter or any innovatory techniques, but in her peculiar angle of vision, her brushwork (brash or delicate, but always intuitively her own), an in her stubborn, if intermittent, investigation of a few recurrent themes. Her art was never slapdash, dilletante or self-indulgent. . First Edition. Stapled Softcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8.25" x 11". Exhibition Catalog. women Artists Contemporary.
