Spine ends and corner tips rubbed, end sheets rather darkened with scattered foxing along fore edge and throughout text, small manufacturing flaw to rear pastedown, otherwise a good copy, from the library of Siegfried Sassoon, with the library dispersal label.
spine : The outer portion of a book which covers the actual binding. The spine usually faces outward when a book is placed on a shelf. Also known as the back.
fore edge : The portion of a book that is opposite the spine. Depending on context, may refer to either the text edges, or the board edges.
gilt : Decorative patterns imbedded into the affected portion of a book. Often appears on the boards or the spine, and may be very simple, to elegant, to ludicrous.
pastedown : The paper glued to the inside cover of a hard cover book.
Cloth : Generally refers to a hardcover with cloth covering the outside of the book covers.
